Victim or Conqueror?

Victim or Conqueror?

Given two options, would you consider yourself more of a victim or a conqueror? Are you a take charge person or a person who tends to say, “This is not my fault” or “This is not my problem.” We can all play the victim role and play it quite well. To be a conqueror requires a choice. A choice to be different. A choice to be a leader. We need more conquerors. We need more people to step up to the plate and make a difference.

This is the graduation season. Students are graduating from high school, college, trade schools, and from many other places of higher education. Many of these people will reenter school later this year. Many will enter, or try to enter, the workforce in their chosen profession.

It is always amazing to consider the vast array of ways people work, serve, and lead. Many will play the role of a victim and declare, “No one will hire me.” Conquerors will take a different approach. They will take on the belief that opportunities are out there even though it will take prayer, fortitude, and vision to find that place of opportunity.

We all have gifts, talents, skills, and abilities. One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:37, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” If you are a believer, you would be wise to read the entire chapter that contains these precious words.

If you are a conqueror, if you believe there is a place for you in the ministry, in the workforce, or in education, even if we have never met, I prayed for you as I wrote this article. I am praying our God will direct you to the people and the place that needs what you have to offer.

The mindset and the approach you take in your pursuit will make all the difference. It was Henry Ford who said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right.” What we see here is – our attitude has much to do with our success or failure.

To be clear, we cannot do whatever we set our mind to do. I will never be an Indy race car driver, nor will I ever be the center of a professional basketball team. But I can be and you can be the person you were created to be. Maybe a loved one needs to read this. I am willing to pray for you or them to find their niche in life.

Another appropriate verse for believers is found in the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. It goes like this. “For we are His workmanship [His masterpiece], created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” God has a plan for your life. Let me know if I can pray and help you find that plan.
